National Solstice/Sky Meet 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I have added the National Meet to the calendar. You must register at the NASSM2009 website and pay the fees through them. The hotel information is also on there.

After you have registered with them please RSVP on our site so that we know who is going.

The deadline to register is May 15, 2009. After that there is a $25 up-charge and no guarantee on hotel rooms.

I will post our experience here for now, and then post a front page article when I get the pics downloaded.

Wed June 17, 2009 - This year we decided to trailer the Solstice instead of driving two cars. We left Vegas around 9am and headed for the beautiful state of Colorado. The weather was not in our favor for the drive out. We hit several rain and wind storms the entire way. When there were patches of sunlight the scenery was absolutely breath taking, especially through Utah. We arrived in the Rocky Mountains when it was dark so it was impossible to see the beautiful mountains that are still covered in Snow!
As we made out last turn onto Interlocken Blvd (Omni Hotel) we felt the truck jerk forward. Tony looked into his rear view mirror and the Solstice was sitting in the middle of the street. It had rolled off of the trailer as we pulled away from the stop sign. We looked over the damage and counted our blessings that it happened on an empty side street and not the I-70. To our surprise, the only damage was the front bumper snapping off, without the brackets breaking, and a side light loosing a snap. Tony and Paul (madmods) worked on it for a few hours and you couldn't tell anything had ever happened!! It was then time for bed, as it was now 1:30 in the morning and it was a 13 hour drive!

Thursday was check in and Vendor set up day. GM Roadster had a HUGE tent set up for participating vendors to do installs and product demonstrations. This was a GREAT idea, especially with the crazy weather that Colorado had been receiving. It would be hot one minute and raining the next. Tony set up some of our products and scheduled a few installs. Our A-Pillar wrap kit ended up being more popular then we had expected and he sold all available kits in one day. This gave him a list of installs to do during the weekend. I took the kids and mother in law into downtown Denver. We visited the aquarium and the Butterfly Pavillion. The kids had a lot of fun and it got them out of the hotel for a little while.
A Welcome Buffet was set up in the evening for NASSM attendees. It was in the outdoor Pavillion next to the hotel pool. It was a spread of mexican specialties and a country singing group performed while everyone enjoyed the food.
The night was filled with several parties. We chose to attend the two that were on our floor. The 11th floor was filled with NASSM attendees so it was the loudest!! We called it a night around midnight after a few drinks ( I promise it was just a few)

Friday was the Peak to Peak cruise. 89 cars were registered for this group drive. Aspenrose had 6 run groups set up with about 12-16 cars in each group. We lined up in our groups at the back of the hotel and headed to the mountains at apprx 10am. This trip was going to be apprx. 215 miles to the ending point. As we made our way through town and towards Estes Park we had several on lookers stop to take pics and wave. Just imagine seeing a couple Solstice/Sky's and then realize that the parade doesn't seem to end. It was an amazing sight to see and be a part of. We stopped in a little town called Nederlands up on the mountain for restroom break and to stretch our legs. A local Police Officer recognized the Bullrun Solstice and followed our convoy in so that he could see if it was "really" us. He took pics with us and we autographed and gave him one of our picture cards. After our break we headed up the mountain even further, going through lots of little twisties. The mountains were filled with Pine trees and it was such a different view from the Southern Nevada Mountains. We entered the Rocky Mountain National Park and headed for the picnic area. Several of us pre-ordered lunch boxes from Jason's Deli. (these were delivered to us at the Hotel) Our convoy took over the entire parking lot of the picnic area, plus some.... After lunch several of the cars went to the top of the mountain and headed to the casino. Several other headed back to the hotel to join the Poker run, take a nap, or go swimming!!
That night was a "free" night to do as you pleased. We joined some local friends at Dave and Busters. The kids got to play all the video games they wanted and the adults could sit at the center bar, get a drink, or join in on the games. We decided to get a drink and join in on the games. The kids collected lots of tickets to be used in the toy store, along with the tickets that our friends had won. They had an absolute blast!! Back at the hotel we joined some friends at the bar and called it a night a little bit earlier.

Saturday was going to be a work work work day for Tony and I. We set up our tables and supplies and got ready for the day. Tony had several installs scheduled for the day and I had our portable vinyl cutter ready to make custom decals. Several attendees liked the idea of making a custom third brake light decal. It's always fun to add your own touch to your car. Tony and I were at our booth from morning to night working on orders and finishing up installs. Several other vendors worked through the night as well. If it was not for the support of all the attendees and car enthusiasts we would not be able to continue doing what we love! The attendess really made this event an enjoyable and successful one for us!
The Banquet was from 6pm-10pm and was a buffet style set up. Tony and I arrived around 6:30, right from the vendor tent. No time time to get dressed up or anything. At the end of dinner the winners of the silent auction were announced and a few speeches were given. The Rocky Mountain Solstice group gave there thanks to all who attended and to the Vendors! After the banquet we headed to the Tap Room, hotel lounge, and enjoyed the rest of the night. We had several drinks and made many toasts to the success of the event and to future events!! It was now time to relax, finally!! We had a great time and cannot wait until the next meet!
